Father Christmas knows I'm vegan

Rubber Ritchie Father Christmas knows I'm vegan

Date: 2007-11-27

Christmas is coming and we can make it special for vegan kids and adults. We cast aside the cruel traditions and make our own kind and fun ones. So ActiVeg has got some ideas to get you going.

  • if your kids get Christmas stockings they like knowing santa knows their needs. My 4 year old just said to her Nana "Father Christmas knows we're vegan" in a very proud voice. Little toys and books from Christmas fairs, stickers, fresh fruit and Lush bath bombs are all favourites
  • Try out new or favourite old recipes for Christmas dinner. It's time to start making mince pies and Christmas puddings now. My favourite vegan pudding recipe is the one at the end of Viva!'s Martin Shaw cook booklet also available online and well worth making as several smaller puds, and for further drooling ideas take a look at our recipes to inspire people.
  • Contact your local supermarket or food shop and ask them which Christmas products are vegan - it raises their awareness of the demand and your appreciation of what's out there! And if you want a simple old fashioned roast dinner you can save most of your time for fun on Christmas day by having a Redwood's Celebration Roast or two with some yummy veg.
  • Buy and ask for pressies from vegan on-line stores, charities like Dr Hadwen Trust with it's great catalogue, and chocolates from Troody Skrumptious - the best there are!
  • Buy in vegan wines in advance, from Thresher, Vintage Roots and Vinceremos who all know their vegan products, and for something extra special take a look at our Vegan Wines This Christmas news
  • On the high street the best bet for vegan presents is the wonderfulLush which has some glorious Christmas products this year, all well labeled up as vegan, and you can also try their sister company's 100% vegan "B" luxury cosmetics which are simply fabulous and beautiful
  • book the amazing vegan contortionist Rubber Ritchie Santa Twistmas (pictured) for your next year's work do
