A popular dairy-free ‘cheese’ produced in the UK by the Redwood Wholefood Company has just picked up a top award in Australia.

Redwood’s Cheezly was named best soy/non-dairy product in the inaugural 2008 aduki awards, set up by Aduki independent press to recognise excellence in the Australian vegan community.

Cheezly scooped the accolade after scores of dedicated vegans across the country cast their vote in aduki magazine’s ‘people’s choice’ awards, which showcase the very best animal-free products, places and businesses.

“Since arriving in Australia, Redwood’s ‘Cheezly’ has been a massive hit with Aussie vegans,” said Jeremy Johnson of Vegan Perfection, a Melbourne based importer, exporter and distributor of leading vegan brands.

The first quality hard vegan cheese to be sold in Australia, Cheezly comes in a wide variety of flavours, including super-melting Edam and mozzarella, mature white cheddar-style, and garlic & herb cheddar-style. All are casein-free and lactose-free and produced in a dedicated vegan factory.

Keith Stott, director of Redwood, said he was delighted that Cheezly had been recognised in one of the company’s key export markets. “We’d particularly like to thank Vegan Perfection, who have worked extremely hard to make Cheezly a success in Australia,” he said. “Winning this award is a great achievement.”

In recent years, Cheezly has won numerous awards, including the UK Vegan Society’s Best Vegan Food award. It was also voted the “Finest Food You Can't Find in the US” by US magazine VegNews. ENDS
