Description

Be part of history in London! Be part of the biggest ever mobilisation of vegetarians and vegans on environmental grounds!! Veg*nism is the solution to many of the catastrophies facing the planet - it`s time to tell the world!!

If you want to link up with us there please email me (see below) to say where you'll meet us, be it Millbank (start of March 12 noon) or US Embassy (2pm end of march and rally). Also tell us if you need us to provide leaflets for you to hand out, or if you can bring some. Last year we found people on the march very interested in veggie & vegan leaflets. Make a eco-vegan banner and it'll be obvious that vegans and veggies are there en masse!

Deforestation, spreading deserts, melting ice caps, flooding - livestock farming causes all this and more Join the march to:

  • Demand that world leaders stop propping up the animal farming industries that cause climate change.
  • Raise awareness amongst environmentalists and the general public that their choice of diet is critical to the survival of the planet!!

Campaign Against Climate Change logoUp to 30,000 environmentalists are expected to join the National Climate March on Sat 8th December 2007 to "demand that world leaders take the urgent action we need to prevent the catastrophic destabilisation of global climate". The National Demo in London will be one of many demonstrations on climate taking place all around the world on the same day ( see here ), midway through the UN Climate Talks in Bali.

"The livestock sector accounts for 18% of global greenhouse
gas emissions - more than transport, which emits 13.5%" -

Livestock`s Long Shadow - A report by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, Nov 2006

Email Sophie beforehand to exchange mobile phone numbers and give her as much notice as you can so she can bring enough leaflets for you, though it's even better if you can get hold of your own leaflets. It's a lovely thing to do together and nice for interested and fit kids too, if you have any.

What to bring?

  • any friends and family
  • water, warm clothes, waterproofs, snacks, good walking shoes ("there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad gear" - though lets hope for a sunny day!)
  • your phone
  • please also see if you can bring:
    • a supply of leaflets and booklets, such as "eating the Earth" and the youth booklet from the Vegan Society - get in touch with them at least 2 weeks beforehand. Recipes are popular too.
    • eco-vegan posters (ask the Vegan Society) stuck to boards on sticks - make them as neat as you can
