Description

Vegan Month

World Vegan Day is on 1st November and the Vegan Society would love you to help celebrate and publicise it. On ActiVeg we've sorted some inspiration for World Vegan Day - everyone can do it! Have a go at any time! Animal Aid has stretched this into a whole month, and this is what they say:

On November 1st, Animal Aid is launching the UK¹s first Vegan Month, which we hope will be recognised annually by all vegan groups and individuals nationwide, but we will need your help to make it a great success.

Vegan Month is an excellent opportunity to promote the positive benefits of the vegan lifestyle and to encourage new people to get involved with your group.

Whether your group already actively campaigns on vegan issues, if it's been thinking about it or exists as a social group, there are many ways in which you can help to promote Vegan Month. The continued growth in veganism has largely been the result of vegan advocacy and campaigning vegans talking about their diet, distributing information, creating support networks, opening restaurants and shops and setting up websites. The following are just some of the ways in which you and your group can help to promote Vegan Month and get everyone talking about veganism.

  • Ask your local vegetarian restaurant to organise an 'I can't believe it's vegan' night. Helping to promote the message that vegan food is delicious, varied and healthy.
  • Set up a Vegan Month library display. Animal Aid can provide you with all the resources you need, free of charge and it¹s a great way to advertise your local group.
  • Organise a vegan street stall. Help promote veganism by handing out information and vegan guides. You could even make some free food to give away, which is always very popular.
  • Organise a free vegan food fayre. Food fayres are a popular method for promoting veganism and an excellent way to introduce people directly to vegan food in a relaxed atmosphere.

I am sure you can come up with many more ideas. For more information on any of the above please do not hesitate to contact me. The Animal Aid guide to campaigning: http://www.animalaid.org.uk/images/pdf/booklets/campaign.pdf explains in more detail how to organise the events mentioned above.

If you are planning to organise an event for Vegan Month, please do let me know the details so that I can add it to the Animal Aid online events diary.

Best wishes
