Day of Action for Primates
After the wonderful success of the first Day of Action for Primates, Animal Aid are asking supporters to take to the streets again on Saturday February 17th. New EU legislation is underway that could see an end to the use of primates in experiments - but this can only be achieved if the public speak out.
Says Kate of Animal Aid:
The media rarely present the ethical and scientific objections to animal experiments and we found, while talking to members of the public on the first Day of Action, that many people thought that primate experiments were already banned, and were distressed and angry to learn that more than 3000 primates died in British labs last year. The support from members of the public right across the country has been extraordinary, with thousands of campaign postcards already landing on MPs' desks.
By reaching more people we can have a greater impact still and increase the chances of rescuing primates from the horrors of the labs altogether.
Three ways you can help:
- Set up an information stall in your local town centre on February 17th and collect signatures on petitions and postcards
- Door-drop leaflets in your home town
- Order petitions and postcards and collect signatures from family, friends and colleagues
As usual, contact me and let me know if you would like posters, leaflets, petitions, postcards and reports - all free of charge. Don't forget to state how many of each you want, and where I should send them! And please do let me know if you are planning to do anything so I can hook you up with other people in your area who are interested in helping out.
Best wishes,
Kate Fowler-Reeves Head of Campaigns Animal Aid
