September is Britain Goes Veggie Month
The whole of September has been labeled Britain Goes Veggie Month by Viva! As with all such national events, it's a great time to do something local to build on the enthusiasm and interest in the media and community. It's amazing how businesses are more interested in helping with something you are doing if it ties in with a national event.
Viva! have developed their own materials for this, which you can order from them. It's also a great time to get hold of some Why Vegan booklets from the Vegan Society. These are amazing for opening eyes. Be sure to have lots of recipes to give out too, which can be your own or from veggie organisations.
Door dropping is something that is being particularly promoted in Go Veggie Month. It's all about putting leaflets through doors in your area. This is something it is easy to do on your own though more fun with a friend or two, and can take as short or as long a time as you like, whenever you like. Helen, our contact in Newport, says she finds door dropping a very effective way to get a good local response.
Hey, and it's another great excuse to have a yummy meal with some friends or your group.
Thames Valley V&V are combining both ideas. Tell ActiVeg your plans!
